The Clever Canine

The Clever Canine is owned and operated by Andrew Nelson and Kris Snider. Kris Snider is one of our previous registered veterinary technicians and does the training in the Morgantown and surrounding areas. They provide modern dog training with the utilization of positive reinforcement training. Currently offered is group classes and individualized private lessons for most common dog behaviors. Kris has multiple certifications including: Fear Free Elite Certified, CPDt-KA, AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Puppy Kindergarten

Starting June 7th at 6:00 pm (Every Monday for 6 weeks).

A group class working on building the animal human bond for puppies 6-24 weeks of age. The topics covered are: Impulse Control; Relaxation; Luring Behaviors such as “sit”, “down, and “stand”; Socialization; Cooperative Care; Beginning Leash work; House Training; Crate Training; Appropriate Training Tools; and Fun Games! Teaching skills that will last a lifetime!

Canine Fundamentals

Starting June 7th at 7:00 pm (Every Monday for 6 weeks).

A group class working on building the animal human bond for puppies/dogs over 24 weeks of age. The topics covered are: Impulse Control; Relaxation; Luring Behaviors such as “sit”, “down, and “stand”; Socialization; Cooperative Care; Beginning Leash work; House Training; Crate Training; Appropriate Training Tools; and Fun Games! Teaching skills that will last a lifetime!

Canine Basic Manners – Next Level

Starting June 7th at 6:00 pm (Every Tuesday for 6 weeks).

A group class that continues to build on the animal human bond at a fast pace learning level. This class has a prerequisite of either Puppy Kindergarten or Canine Fundamentals, or trainer approval – Just ask about it! The topics covered are: Impulse Control; Shaping Behaviors; Active Stays; Leashwork; Recalls; Obedience with Distractions; and More! 

Real World Obedience

Date and time to be determined (6 consecutive weeks of instruction).

A group class that continues to build on the animal human bond at a fast pace learning level. This class has a prerequisite of Canine Basic Manners – Next Level, or trainer – Just ask! The topics covered are: Impulse Control; Relaxation; Behavior Chains; Focus Motion; and learning how to connect it all to be able to navigate real world situations. 

AKC Canine Good Citizen Prep Class with Testing

(6 week Group Class that is offered several times through the year)

A six week prep class to prepare for testing for The Canine Good Citizen Title, with the test at the last class. To receive the title, there are ten test items the dog is required to do successfully without food. The prep class can be taken with or without the intent of doing the test at the end. If interested in just the test, contact us directly. Your dog does NOT have to be purebred to do this course or testing.

AKC Tricks Class

(6 week Group Class that is offered several times through the year)

A six week class that will be focusing on teaching tricks for the AKC Tricks Title, including Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. This class is focused on fun and building new skills with your dog. 

Obstacle Course and Games

(6 week Group Class that is offered several times through the year)

A group class that will be focusing on interactive obstacle courses and games for your dog. Between your turns, we will be working on our dogs offering relaxed stays. This class is non-competitive and is meant to be for fun and building the bond between handler and dog.

Cooperative Care/Socialization 101

(6 week Group Class that is offered several times through the year)

A group class that is focused on working with your puppy or dogs’ individual needs related to socialization of sights, sounds, and objects. Or working on cooperative care projects such as muzzle training, nail trims, standing for grooming, and so forth. This is a new concept class we are trying out. There will be no direct interaction between dogs, however this class can be good for socializing your dog to other dogs and people at a distance. The class is not focused on obedience.

All group classes are $140, deposit of full amount reserves your spot. (No spots will be reserved without payment.)
